What qualities create the heroic personality? Why has mankind (even in the Greek & Roman times) always needed heroes? Do fictional heroes reflect mankind's “real life” needs? Are present day, popular culture heroes really “heroes,” or are they “icons?”

Are your students really able to “connect” and visualize the importance of the “big picture” when interpreting and applying the values taught by the study of literature and historical heroes to their own lives?

Heroes is the first performance learning experience of its kind which addresses and connects the study of classic heroic literature with the world of your student in an enjoyable, educationally valid, and assessable program.

Heroes presents a live, multidisciplinary, one hour theatre presentation in two parts:

Engaging, humorous & instructional stage presentation

• Exploration of the heroic journey (Jason and the Golden Fleece)
• Classic Greek Heroic concept exploration (Athena & Zeus)
• Heroic qualities of historical/political female hero (Joan of Arc)
• Scientific heroism thorough the academic struggles of Galileo

Interactive heroes “game show” with students & actors

• Actors intermingle previous student knowledge with acquired knowledge from the first part of the presentation
• Students explore hero vs. icon concept through active discussion
